Advertising Sales Assistant

Outdoor Channel, based in beautiful Temecula, California, is America’s leader in outdoor television. Our fast-growing and fast-paced Advertising Sales Department is looking for an aggressive and career-oriented individual to help us manage our booming business. Familiarity with a sales and advertising environment preferred.

The Sales Assistant will provide support to the Temecula, Chicago and New York advertising sales offices. 
 
Qualified candidate will be a hard working, detail oriented multi-tasker that can work under sometimes stressful situations. You will be the liaison with counterparts in various other departments, such as Programming and Marketing, and as such, are responsible for fostering and maintaining good relationships within the organization.

There are three major elements that compose the Sales Assistant position.

  • Assist Account Executives (AEs) and Planners in the day-to-day customer service of their accounts.
    - Create Marketing/Sales decks
    - Check avails and sponsor conflicts for plans
    - Assist with creating plans and presentations
    - Create order and post letters
    - Steward all national guaranteed deals
  • Work with Traffic department to ensure all commercial units are set properly for airing.
    - Correct discrepancies
    - Track program changes
  • Reconcile billing issues with Finance department.

Experience
1-2 years previous administrative experience. Strong oral and communication skills; professional phone skills; extremely high attention to detail; excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize work under pressure; aptitude for working with numbers; interpersonal skills and the ability to work with both internal personnel and external contacts.

Computer Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Powerpoint experience required. Previous ad sales or sales experience is highly preferred. College degree required.

Marketing Specialist

Located in beautiful Temecula, California, Outdoor Channel, a national cable television network, has an excellent opportunity for you to work in the exciting world of national cable television. As a Marketing Specialist at Outdoor Channel, you will have a varied set of responsibilities. This position is a “hub position" interacting with multiple departments in the network including Advertising Sales, Programming and Affiliate Sales.  There are three main components to the job: copywriting, marketing asset coordination and marketing project work.

Responsibilities

  • Write full-length articles/advertorials for network specific and program specific promotion
  • Create copy for advertisements and marketing collateral
  • Write scripts for promos and radio advertisements
  • Work with producers and programming to coordinate creative assets
  • Develop a system to manage creative programming assets and share those assets with other network departments
  • Develop creative and project briefs for marketing projects and integrated sales opportunities
  • Create program/nightly block descriptions for a variety of uses, both in-house and external
  • Do proofreading and copyediting as necessary
  • Coordinate projects with members of various in-house teams/departments and external vendors
  • Help on a variety of marketing projects as needed
  • Staff trade shows as needed

Core Competencies & Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing
  • Experience in media (cable television, broadcast television, radio, ad agency) preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing or related field
  • Tremendous writing skills

Marketing Intern (Paid Position)

As a part-time paid marketing intern at Outdoor Channel, you will have a varied set of responsibilities. Please note that this is a paid position and is not for credit.

Responsibilities

  • Screen user-generated content for network’s website
  • Work with other departmental resources to coordinate creative assets
  • Do proofreading and copyediting as necessary
  • Help on a variety of marketing projects and promotions as needed, including consumer, affiliate and ad sales marketing
  • Staff trade shows as needed

  • Passion for cable TV
  • Pursuing/recently received a Bachelors degree in Marketing or related field
