Zombies In The Heartland
Event gives shooters chance to take out the living dead
The last stand of humans are surrounded by Zombies closing in, and there will be shooting. Lots of shooting.
That was the premise behind Hornday’s Pandemic 2012. At the Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, Neb., gun enthusiasts and Zombie haters united for a three-gun shooting event to take out the living dead.
Individuals used handguns, shotguns and rifles to engage “zombiefied” targets. It was about having fun with firearms and doing something shooters rarely get the chance to do … slay Zombies!
Each group was assigned a Zombie Wrangler to set up the shots at hordes of steel “zombie” targets. For VIZs ( Very Important Zombie Slayers) the cost was $275, which put them in 8 competitive stages, 6 sidematch stages, provided a box of Hornady Z-Max Zombie ammo, a Pandemic 2012 T-shirt, lunch for two days and a goodie bag.
The added value of knowing participants were leaders in the war against Zombies was priceless.
