Cherry Creek State Park Seeks Volunteers for Lake Appreciation Day

 

AURORA, Colo.Cherry Creek State Park will celebrate Lake Appreciation Day in conjunction with Colorado Cares Day on Saturday, July 30. Volunteers are invited to make a difference at Cherry Creek State Park, the metropolitan area's popular and valued playground. The event will kick-off at 8 a.m. at the Hobie Hill picnic area near the marina. There will be projects and activities throughout the day for all ages and abilities.

The projects will include: a shoreline clean up, Russian Olive removal and a revegetation project. There will be refreshments, but volunteers should bring a bag lunch and stay for the afternoon festivities - boat rides with a ranger, a fishing clinic, a give-a-way drawing, and other fun learning activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Be sure to dress appropriately for the morning volunteer activities. Closed-toed shoes, gloves, an outfit for working, sun block, bug spray, and plenty of water. To sign up, please visit our website, www.parks.state.co.us/Parks/CherryCreek.
