Delaware Wildlife Agents Investigating Piebald Deer Poaching

HOCKESSIN, Del. – DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement agents are seeking information on a possible suspect or suspects in a Sept. 22 incident in which a piebald deer was poached. The unusual almost all-white deer was a familiar sight in area of Ashland Clinton School Road in Hockessin, where a resident found the deer dead with a bow wound in a ditch about 15 yards from the road on Friday morning.

“Poaching is an illegal and wasteful act in all cases, but in this case, it was also hurtful to a community that had enjoyed seeing this unusual animal in their neighborhood,” said Sgt. Gregory Rhodes of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement.

A reward is offered for information that leads to a conviction. Those who give information are not required to give their names and their identities are kept confidential.
