Welcome to one of the best times of the year to catch the largest trout of your life! Late winter, early spring is one of my favorite times to be on the water for this very reason.
The weather should be improving from what many of us have seen over the past several months, the days are getting longer and the fish know spring is coming. This means one important thing: they’ll be feeding more and more by the day.
Trout are cold-blooded animals and as such, their metabolism is directly related to the water temperature. Sometimes all it takes is for the water to warm up two or three degrees throughout the day for the fish to turn on and start feeding in a big way.
