We are talking whitetails exclusively this week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, as we get a jumpstart to the 2016 deer season. Joining the discussion this week will be Dr. Grant Woods of Growing Deer TV, Christian Berg the editor of Petersen's Bow Hunting, Bill Gorman host of L.L.Bean Guide to the Outdoors, and Mike Strong the Senior Marketing Specialist at Polaris Industries.

Dr. Grant Woods of Growing Deer TV holds degrees from Southwest Missouri State University, University of Georgia, and Clemson University, and he's here to give us the straight talk on prescribed burning, the captive deer crisis and what's at stake for wildlife if federal laws and regulations aren't adhered to. Aside from Grant's deep-seated love and passion for family and God, Dr. Woods is steadfast in his life's work to better educate other outdoorsmen and women in the fine art of wildlife and land management.

Petersen's Bowhunting Magazine editor, Christian Berg, has his pin set on collecting bone and deer sheds, and analyzing them to get all info he can glean from them. Christian says that there is no time like the present to blueprint and execute your fall hunting strategies, but he adds that all too often hunters are misled by an abundant sign of deer traffic and activity and end up setting up shop in a bad locale. In addition, Christian says that they advise their readers in Petersen's Bowhunting to avoid reckless planning by first observing the entire area and to form a calculated map of where the deer are going and coming from, where they feel the most secure and where they are the most vulnerable, before you ever set a blind or hang a treestand.

Joining our discussion, as well, will be Bill Gorman of L.L.Bean Guide to the Outdoors that's seen Sundays at 9:30 a.m. ET on Outdoor Channel. Mr. Gorman is a devout champion of the average outdoorsman and he uses his own real woods trial-by-error methods to better enhance the hunting experiences of others. He, too, touches on the recent downturn of record book buck entries across the U.S. and into Canada, and why he perceives it as a natural cycle that ultimately spawns a new dawn and healthier, more vibrant, whitetail population in the end.

Mike Strong is the Sr. Marketing Specialist at Polaris Industries, and he'll tackle the back breaking chore of food plots with ease, and will lay the necessary foundation that's required to grow a nutritious food plot that deer can't resist. Polaris is the undisputed leader in ATV/UTV performance and Mike says that their extensive line of Polaris Accessories and Farm Necessities is breaking boundaries and setting the bar for innovative ergonomic design, and functionality that could largely aid sportsman worldwide. You'll certainly want to hear Mike talk in-depth about Polaris' Disk Plow, Landscape Rake, Hitch Mounted Material Spreader and Utility Spraying Units, if you're an avid DIY food plotter.
