Fly Fishing Film Tour
In July 2009, Outdoor Channel, "America's Leader in Outdoor TV," announced that it would serve as an official partner for the Fly Fishing Film Tour (FFFT). FFFT, in its fourth year of growth and unprecedented success, showcases some of the best outdoor independent filmmakers on a multi-city theatrical tour around the U.S. First launched in 2005, the tour has grown to be a must-see visual feast of fly fishing, presented much like the Warren Miller ski-related live theatrical productions.
In 2010, the FFFT will take its 90-minute presentation of short films to over 100 cities, featuring some of the best fishing adventure shorts ever produced. As the 2009 edition of the Fly Fishing Film Tour wraps up in Wichita, Kansas on November 7, it will have had 80 stops since early February's first show in Colorado.
With retail tie-ins, local grassroots support at local fly fishing shops and now, the partnership of "America's Leader in Outdoor TV," the Fly Fishing Film Tour is poised to take adventure cinema to the next level in 2010 and beyond.
"Fly fishermen are a passionate and loyal bunch, so we've sought to create an atmosphere of excitement and audience involvement," said Chris Keig, a partner at Mayfly Media (owner of the Tour). "Partnering with Outdoor Channel gives us a larger presence in the market and will help us attract the best and brightest filmmakers out there today.”
Tom Hornish, COO of Outdoor Channel, agrees. "Our new partnership with the FFFT is part of our ongoing commitment to tap into the best programming and communities for each of our key verticals - fishing, hunting, shooting and adventure. By providing our viewers and affiliates with opportunities to engage with a dedicated well-rounded and unique source of fly fishing entertainment like the FFFT, we're able to bring the additional platforms of live events and independent films to our audiences."
