Vice President, Digital Media
Jim Wilburn is the Founder and President of Winnercomm, as well as the General Manger and driving force behind Major League Fishing.
After graduating from the University of Tulsa with a B.S. in communications, Jim became the top advertising sales performer for ABC affiliate KTUL. In 1981, he left KTUL to form Winner Communications as a syndicator of American Quarter Horse racing telecasts. Twenty years later Winner Communications became Winnercomm and produced nearly 50 percent of the ESPN Outdoors program block, as well as well as more than 1,200 Sports Century moments.
Winnercomm packaged or produced more than 15 different sports for the ESPN networks such as Major League Soccer, thoroughbred racing, rodeo, bull riding, sprint car racing, PBA bowling, hunting, fishing, cheerleading and many more. Winnercomm produced more than 500 hours of programming annually for ESPN and 10 other networks. During this time, Winnercom has won 13 Emmy Awards® and two Eclipse Awards.
In 2004, Winnercomm acquired the camera platforms Skycam and in 2006 Cablecam; cable-controlled camera systems used extensively on NCAA Football, Monday Night Football and Super Bowl coverage. The acquisitions of Skycam and Cablecam furthered Winnercomm’s reach into live sports coverage. In 2009, Winnercomm was acquired by Outdoor Channel Holdings.
Mr. Wilburn is a member of the University of Tulsa Business Hall of Fame and has been honored with the coveted Distinguished Alumni Award. Currently, he serves on the University of Tulsa Board of Trustees.
