JUG FISHING - Catfish Fry on the Boat

Nothin' Fancy Catfish Jugs! (pool noodles) Zach thinks it's stupid to buy fish at the grocery store so we're heading out to our local lake in Nashville TN (Old Hickory Lake ) to do some jug fishing for catfish. We're keeping it extra simple and cheap. Nothing but a pool noodle, fishing line, hook, weight and bait. We decided it would be cool to catch, clean and cook the catfish all on the boat so we have brought out the air fryer. Fried catfish on the boat, why not!?

Wild Game Cook-Off

It's CMA week in Nashville and Country Outdoors and good friend Jared Mullins are teaming up to raise money for Catch-A-Dream Foundation. We're the first annual Wild Game Cook-Off with celebrity guest chefs and judges. Traeger has sent the grills and Mossy Oak Butcheries has sent the meats! Chefs Dillon Carmichael, Sean Stemaly, Devlin “Duck” Hodges and Dylan Marlowe will be judged by Tyler Farr, Matt Stell, Meghan Patrick and Mr. Moon! It's bound to be a fun night for a great cause! Hosts Zach Phillips and Mary O'Neill Phillips head down to Florida to try Snook fishing for the first time with their good buddy Kyle Petrick, who you've met before on the Country Outdoors Turkey Tour! Kyle's mad at Turkeys, but even more mad at the Snook! The crew have a blast catching and releasing in the beautiful Florida canals!

Dental Tourism?? and Fishing in Turkey!

Did you know that dental tourism is a thing and did you know that there aren't turkeys in Turkey???? It's unusual that Zach and Mary take a trip that isn't 100% centered around hunting and fishing but this week, it's happening. Mary has dental work done in Turkey via visiting Isreal. Zach wasn't happy about the lack of turkeys but still managed to find some friends to go fishing with!

Australia Pt 1

Friend and Country singer Sean Stemaly steps in as cohost of Country Outdoors for a day as he hunts the Tennessee early archery season in search of his first ever velvet buck! Meanwhile Zach and Mary are headed to the land down under to meet up with friend and outfitter Karl Goodhand for an epic adventure in the Northern Territory. They are headed to bow hunt wild hogs and water buffalo in the Arnhem Lands with Aboriginal guide “Captain”. This one will go down as a trip of a lifetime!

Tennessee Youth Hunt

Country Outdoors has a very special episode to share this week! Country star Mo Pitney, his wife Emily Pitney and their daughter Evie Pitney are in camp. The goal.. to get 5 year old Evie her first Deer! They are hunting on Mr. Larry's property that is full of family history and hunting stories and that's exactly what you can expect in this episode. Lots of stories and fellowship, hunting and of course some guitar picking.

They have a pit stop for a Country Outdoors concert in Pigeon Forge before packing up the grocery getter and heading to Texas to meet Karl Goodhand at the Thermal Ranch! Goats, country music, Australians and Texas… a recipe for a fun time!

Wappaoolah Wood Ducks and RV Show

Zach and Mary are headed to one of their all-time favorite locations… the Wappaoolah Plantation! This is Mary's first time ever hunting ever hunting wood ducks in the swamps of the south east while Zach is just getting back to his roots. After the hunt the crew is packing pavement down to Tampa Florida for the RV Super Show. Country Artist Trey Teem is coming down to play music and Zach and Mary are cooking up some wood duck poppers for the guest!

Live in the Blind Pt. 1

We're having an end of season soiree! We're in the boot-heel of Missouri at Black Water Lodge with Mallard Bay and a host of friends. This camp is 3 days of waterfowl hunting, country music and incredible food! We're joined by Jon Langston, Kameron Marlowe, Styles Haury, Meghan Patrick and Kasey Tyndall who are hunting and entertaining the camp! Mary and Kasey are both pregnant so they're holding down the camp and keeping an eye on the food chef Brendan Lamb is preparing!

Every now and then you have some files that slip through the cracks and get lost on hard drives long forgotten. This week Zach and Mary have discovered one of those old gems! This is from the end of their 2021 Turkey Season. They had just gone through a fire where we lost most of their belongings. Their family, friends, hunting community and Hulett Wyoming really picked them up in a hard time. They pushed through and made some incredible memories with friends! From Mitch Petrie's muzzle loader long beard to a western rope and drag branding and Dylan Marlow eating calf nuts.... What a time!

South Dakota Antelope Hunt turned Dove Hunt

Zach and Mary (and Forrest) are back on the road for the first time since having their baby girl. They have gone to visit their friends Corey and Foster in South Dakota and Mary has an antelope tag in her pocket! This trip is a good example of always have a plan b and always be willing to pivot to have some fun! When given the chance to go dove hunt with World Champion Trapshooter, Foster Bartholow Mary ditched the antelope and picked up a shotgun. South Dakota never disappoints and we couldn't think of a better way to kick off the fall hunting season.

It's Zach's turn to hunt! The crew has parked the RV in Montana and Zach has an archery antelope tag in his pocket. It's his first time hunting antelope in quite a few years and he is determined to be successful. He has even gotten creative with his decoy "Suzie the Sheila".

Landtrust Elk Hunt Pt13

The Montana Road trip continues for Country Outdoors. Before the elk hunting begins they are spending Zach's birthday next to a trout stream where Mary is getting her first fly fishing lesson. While in Bozeman Mary visited with “Live in the Divide”, a Montana landmark in the music scene. Then it's off to the mountains for the elk hunt Zach booked with Landtrust. The elk are bugling and anticipation is high!

We're jumping straight into Zach's Montana elk hunt as the action is heating up. He's on the quest to fill his first archery elk tag ever and he's getting closer and closer by the day! After the hunt Zach and Mary are taking the RV down to Idaho for a camping event with the folks from Lippert! Idaho is providing the views, Wild game chef Brendan Lamb joined by chef Levi Gardner are cooking and Lippert is providing one awesome event!

Team Reid VS Team Will is back! We're back in Alabama on the Shackleford Lane farm to conduct some serious deer management. Country Artist Cody Hibbard is joining team Reid while Zach and Will attempt to settle the score. Mary is also back in the mix but is trying her best to get her first Alabama buck! You can't go wrong with does, bows and country music!

Hunt 4 Hope Children's Deer Hunt

We're headed to Ohio for the annual Hunt 4 Hope children's deer hunt… As long as Zach can get his honey do's done! This past year at NWTF Convention Hunt 4 Hope founder Cooper Meshew invited us up to this event and we couldn't be more excited to finally make it up. The positivity and smiles from these amazing kids did our hearts some good and we hope does for you as well! If you can we highly recommend you get involved with Hunt 4 Hope or a similar organization in your area. This is what hunting is all about.
