Mike Irvine

Mike Irvine

From the time he could walk, Mike Irvine could be found in a duck blind near the Mississippi River with his father. It was that family hunting tradition that would lead the Quincy, Illinois, native to a career in the outdoor broadcasting. Mike is now the host who presents the extreme challenges on Shooting USA’s Impossible Shots.

Reporting the stories of legendary exhibition shooters and showman, and the amazing shooting achievements of today’s professional shooters, Mike brings the Impossible to Outdoor Channel’s largest audience each week.

Before he was amazing viewers, and presenting Bob Munden’s 300-yard shot with a S&W Snubby, Cisko’s Western fast-draw, and the speed shooting of modern revolver expert, Jerry Miculek, Mike was a working TV journalist in his hometown. At KHQA-TV, Mike reported local news stories, sports events, and filled in as a part-time weather man.

It was a sports story at a national shooting competition in Quincy that would give Mike the opportunity to pursue what he loved most. An encounter with Shooting USA’s Jim Scoutten, who was covering the championship for the national gun sports show, became an invitation to join the Shooting USA team of reporters and producers. Though you’ll rarely see him shoot on television, Mike still hunts all across North America - and you’ll even find his prize mounts on display in the Shooting USA Gun Room.
