Displays in 15 galleries depict the history of Americans and their guns, tracing six centuries of firearms evolution - from the simplest of hand cannons and early days when each piece was the product of a skilled artisan, to mass firearms in the Industrial Revolution and today's cutting-edge innovations. Exhibits also demonstrate the many uses of guns for early settlement, military, police, hunting, competition and personal defense.
Fifteen themed galleries full of unique and distinctive firearms are yours to explore. Guns date from 1350 to present-day and include: Firearms of six American presidents, 12 U.S. general officers and six foreign heads of state; treasures associated with pilgrims, the American Revolution, the Civil War and other pivotal points in American history; and handcrafted pieces used in events such as the Olympics and Camp Perry. More than 2,700 rare and significant firearms are available for viewing.
