Mike Pawlawski

Mike Pawlawski

Long before Mike Pawlawski became a professional outdoorsman and an advocate for traditional outdoor recreation, he was a successful football player whose talent was only matched by a love of the game.

Since Mike was a young kid, he always worked to maintain a balance between playing football and spending quality time outdoors. During the fall, it was especially hard for time to find time for hunting and fishing adventures as he continued to dedicate his life to his football career. The sacrifices he made in high school allowed him to earn the coveted job of starting quarterback for the California Golden Bears.

As quarterback for Cal in the early 1990s, Mike helped bring his team back to national prominence. In 1991, they finished the regular season with a record of 10-2 and went on to win the Citrus Bowl. Years later, Mike was inducted in the University of California Hall of Fame for his outstanding career with the Golden Bears.

After graduation, Mike went on to play professional football in several leagues. He played for one season in the NFL and went on to play in the Arena Football League for most of the 1990s. Before retiring from the game, Mike also spent a year with the now-defunct XFL.

When Mike Pawlawski finally hung up the cleats, he quickly transitioned into a new career that was equally near and dear to his heart. No longer limited by the commitments to his football career, he focused his efforts on becoming a professional outdoorsman. After spending more time in fields and streams near his home in Northern California, Mike began to understand that his calling was in outdoor entertainment.

With the same passion and dedication to excellence that Mike showed on the field during his illustrious career, he began to create programs for Outdoor Channel. On Familiar Waters, Mike takes fly fishing adventures all over the country with other former professional athletes and sports celebrities.

Mike continues to produce new episodes for his Outdoor Channel programs and excites outdoor enthusiasts from all over the country, whether they’re novices or old pros themselves.
