Steve Gruber has been a television professional and on air personality since 1987. His career began in Bozeman, Montana as the weatherman. New challenges arose sending him into the mainstream spotlight as an investigative reporter. With his ongoing success he earned 2 Emmy nominations during his time in the news world. He worked in news for more than 12 years then made the choice to chase his dream. Steve left the news business at the end of 2000 while working for NBC.
In 1993 Steve founded Wolf Creek Productions with photographer Tom Nichols. After leaving NBC he was able to devote all his time to what he enjoyed most (the outdoors). The company has grown into one of the most respected names in outdoor television today. The company’s programs include “Outdoor America”, which is the longest running series on The Outdoor Channel, where it debuted in the fall of 1994. Also featuring shows “The American Archer with Tom Nelson,” “The American Birdhunter with Tom Knapp,” “The Wingshooter,” “Steve Gruber’s Wild Life,” “Field and Stream’s Icons” and the all new hit series “Deer City USA!.” To date Wolf Creek has delivered over 1200 episodes of outdoor television to several networks.
Steve has enjoyed a very successful talk radio career and hosted the top rated series “Steve Gruber’s Wild Life” for 5 years as anchor on WJR-AM in Detroit. WJR is a clear channel mega station reaching 38 states across the nation.
Hunting extensively in North America, Africa, New Zealand, Alaska, Canada and many more remote locations around the world; Steve has harvested dozens of game animals by way of archery, muzzleloader and modern firearm. He has numerous record book class animals to his credit, some of which include Whitetail deer, Black Bear, Moose, Caribou, Antelope, Kudu, Leopard, Tahr, Red Stag, Blacktail, Elk and many more.
In addition to game animals, Steve’s love of the outdoors is also put to use as an avid sport fisherman. Captured on film are various North American game fish along with Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Bonefish, White Sturgeon, and Shark.
Steve’s ongoing success with TV has been rewarded with numerous awards for himself and Wolf Creek Productions. The awards include: 2 Teddy Roosevelt awards, Tellys, Auroras and several Golden Moose trophies as well.
With a proven track record in the outdoor industry; Steve is entering the prime of his career. As the president of Wolf Creek Productions he is a respected industry professional on both sides of the camera. This extensive experience provides credible value that benefits advertisers as well as creates high demand for live speaking engagements. Steve’s taste for adventure and his incredible wanderlust have no end in sight. He will continue to travel the world looking for thrills well beyond the concrete safety zones.
