OC Dives Deep Inside the Minds of Sharks with New TV Series

By: OutdoorChannel.com Staff

Robin D. Berg is a former U.S. Navy deep sea diver, a marine naturalist/conservationist, and an award winning producer/director who has dedicated his professional life to creating riveting television. Eli Martinez is the go-to expert on sharks, whose experiences with the creatures has landed him appearances on National Geographic, Discovery, Animal Planet, and beyond. The two have joined forces as co-hosts of a new Outdoor Channel TV series: Blue Water Savages. The eight-episode season of the series will take viewers on a journey into the sea to explore the surprising natural behavior of sharks and, more significantly, how human interaction directly disrupts that behavior.

Produced by Berg Entertainment International Inc. and VIZUALNOW, Blue Water Savages was developed to highlight fascinating shark behavior, and eliminate some of the mystique and trepidation that surrounds sharks. Robin and Eli also harbor no illusions about just how dangerous sharks are.

Each half-hour episode offers viewers an intimate look at a new species of shark as the hosts track their navigational patterns in deep waters. From oceanic whitetip sharks, one of the most dangerous sharks in the world, and smooth hammerhead sharks in California to lemon sharks, known as much for being docile as for their vicious tempers, and predatory dusky sharks, as well as tiger sharks, bull sharks and reef sharks, the TV series will shed light on their individual personalities and how they are affected by humans.

Since the release of the movie Jaws 40 years ago, many people have developed an irrational fear of sharks. The reality is sharks are not monsters of the deep blue sea, but rather majestic creatures that are far more complex than ever imagined. Blue Water Savages highlights the intrepid adventurers and shark experts that have dedicated their lives to peeling back the layers of mystery, revealing the species’ fascinating behavior, their raw power and the critical role they play in oceanic ecosystems. The Outdoor Channel TV series will challenge everything you think you know about sharks.

Blue Water Savages airs on Saturdays at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Blue Water Savages airs exclusively on Outdoor Channel.
